Looking for a way to install office without it downloading a bunch of stuff over the internet during the install. assuming because it can't connect to download files. See there is a folder that gets created under C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\updates\download\ It would be nice if there was a command line to validate the files you downloaded are all there and good but I can just assume.īased on the error in the log that is coming up over and over, if I was on a network with unrestricted internet access it'd just connect to that URL and download some stuff. The ODT is working fine, it downloads the files fine. I have the latest version of the ODT as well, I just downloaded it on the 19th officedeploymenttool_11509-33604.exe I've tried this install on three different computers all same result. My whole goal in doing all this is to update the source files for O365 so that new deploys don't need to download a grip of updates after install. It was doing that for hours without any error just sitting there retrying. The log indicates that it's trying to connect to "" and failing, then flushing and trying again and failing over and over. It sat for four hours at 2% no errors, before I restarted turning on logging setting display level to full and trying to figure out the issue.

It says it is installing (I've changed the display level at times and added the log file to see what it was doing) I've redownloaded the files with ODT and no change. Same result either way so I think it could be something with either the XML file XML file looks like this (although I've tried more complex xml files with more options this should work they all act the same)Īfter the app deploytoolkit failed I started running "setup.exe /configure configure-install.xml" to simplify and eliminate possible causes of issues. I have deployed older versions of office 365 using the same method and still do without issues.

(it will download and install the update) it will then ask you to confirm reboot click yes.Using the office deployment toolkit I downloaded 0.20304 It will attempt to download a file click run.Īpplication will launch click update now, then click next. Under heading Windows 10 October 2018 Udpate available now click "Update Now" In CMD type "C:\Program Files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe" and press enter (This will launch IE) But below is good for a 1 off case where a tech is onsite and can't quickly create USB media. Another option is to update the OS from 1803 to 1809Īn easy way to get to 1809 from OOBE is below, or you can also just grab an 1809 ISO and drop i on using a USB. Here is a tech community article about the issue.
